INSPIRATION

SILVIA HAS NOW TAKEN HER DESIGN PROCESS ONE STEP FURTHER BY TRANSLATING HER FASHION DESIGNS INTO THAT OF HER FIRST NAMESAKE LUXURY BOUTIQUE HOTEL.

Silvia Tcherassi is considered to be one of the most creative, innovative and versatile personalities in the world of fashion. In her words, "fashion and hotels are two sectors that share a goal for creating experiences and new sensations; they seek to awaken the intimate senses in every person, whether a new style or a perfect environment."

In the last 15 years Silvia has been recognized internationally for her fashionable collections, from the runways of Paris and Milan to those of Latin America. Her style has been defined as eclectic; on the one hand it evokes the sensitivity of a ballerina and on the other it exudes the force of a rock star. Her passion for new and innovative creates a constant drive to discover new sources of inspiration be it in a photograph, a landscape, iconic Latin women such as Frida Khalo or even an abstract emotion like happiness. Silvia absorbs the inspiration and characteristics of these elements to create the styles and experiences that she wishes to share with the world.

Silvia Tcherassi has taken one more step in her creative development having opened the first Tcherassi Hotel + Spa in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

For the hotel, she has taken the concepts of her fashion collections and applied them to the design of the former 250 year old colonial mansion that now takes her name. Calling upon her early interest in and study of interior design, as well as her admiration for the modernist curves of Morris Lapidus's DiLido Hotel, Silvia feels this project is a natural extension of her vision. Her hotel concept integrates the tangible of the design with the intangible of the emotion creating a unique experience. Where the fashion collections change with new styles several times per year, the hotel has been developed with the desire to last over time - a classic. As the first Latin designer to penetrate the hotel market, Silvia once again takes the role of innovator in a new industry.
